With the fast development of e-commerce, the express delivery industry—one significant part of it—has taken this as a great opportunity to realize the rapid expansion. In spite of this, the present express delivery industry is not very good and the main problems reflected by domestic consumers are delivery services, delay of express items and so on. What’s more, in the industry, great attentions have been paid on the last kilometer. To improve the quality of express service and promote the healthy development of the industry, many industry insiders put forward some feasible plans and the scheme of Intelligent Express Mail Box finally receives widespread support. In fact, some manufacturers have started to produce the Intelligent Express Mail Box nowadays. However, many factors limit the comprehensive application, such as the high cost, imperfect policies and so on.According to this situation, this paper designs and develops a set of Intelligent Express Mail Box system, which is aim at improving the function of Intelligent Express Mail Box and reducing the cost to the maximum, so that the Intelligent Express Mail Box can service the people and improve people’s wellbeing as soon as possible. After the courier puts the express into the box, the system will send the message automatically to inform the consignee and he or she can open the box with the homologous SMS the password. Also, the system background records all the data information to ensure the safety of the express. This system includes express box terminal based on single-chip controllers as the core and management platform based on C# language. So, this system can make the delivery of the express and the recording of the relevant data possible. It also improve the efficiency and ensure the safety of express through real-time tracking, On the premise of ensuring the good function and the stability of the system, this design simplify the process, turn material resources to good account and make the cost much less than the existing Intelligent Express Box in the market.The main content of this paper is the design and development of the system of the Intelligent Express Mail Box, which can be divided into two parts generally:Intelligent Express Mail Box terminal and management platform. The terminal takes STM32F103 single-chip microcomputer as control core. It reads the ID card’s information by the RC522 module, verifies visitor identities through the remote data, gets express single shape code by using laser scanning gun, enters the recipient’s mobile phone number by the button, sends messages to the consignee through the SIM900A module, sends the information to the management platform through GPRS network at the same time and then the controller open the door automatically by using the relay to drive the electronic lock. What I has listed above make the delivery of the express, SMS notification and the acquisition and report of data come true. Based on the C# language, the software of Express Mail Box management platform develops in the Visual Studio 2010 platform. The software uses SQL Server 2008 database to manage the data, uses the ADO.NET technology to access the database and uses Socket to realize the GPRS remote communication with the box terminal on the TCP/IP protocol. By designing and developing the management platform which concludes the function of identity card management, terminal equipment management, express access transaction order management and system settings in the VS2010 platform, users can obtain the detailed data and information through the management platform. It also can be used to count express, analyse data, manage system and check careless omission.The system of the Intelligent Express Mail Box which has already been developed meets the expected requirements and performs well when it is applied in several residential quarters and public places.
