The planning and design of production line has been an important problem in the manufacturing industry. A good production line can not only meet the above points, also can reduce the cost of enterprise, improve efficiency, improve enterprise competitiveness, so an exploratory examination of the planning and design of production line has a important practical significance and a theory significance.This thesis takes toaster assembly line planning and design in guangzhou TOP electrical appliances co. LTD as the research object, to study the method of assembly line planning and design.First of all. the thesis introduced the current process and production status about toaster production line in TOP electric appliance co. LTD. and analyzed the toast furnace production line balance problem by the method of industrial engineering method, which is mainly two aspects, such as study and work measurement. Which get a toaster production line balance rate was 59.50%, the smoothness index was 14.08, so it was a kind of extensive management workshop.The thesis put forward the improvement of the jig, the structure of the product improvement and logistics improvement measures. It used the method and theory of industrial engineering, operations precedence relation and the principle of ECRS to optimize the toast furnace production line balance, which get the line balancing rate was 80.80%, the smoothness index was 9.34, the number of assignments was 42.The thesis also applied the heuristic algorithm to establish the production line balance model, and solved it by using Visual C++, which get the optimized toast furnace process, reduced people operation from 90 to 41, increased line balance rate from 59.50% to 83.05%, reduced the smoothness index from 14.04 to 9.06, and what proves the IE method to optimize toast furnace production line balance is effective.Finally, it used the optimized process and personnel configuration, work division and the TOP situation, which designed the toast furnace production line, and it achieved a good effect, the previous three lines of parallel "fei" word belt pull into a "Y" type module work station joining together of the production line, it achieved the single piece flow.So, this thesis provided a kind of method in renovation or rebuilding the production line for the enterprise by using the method of industrial engineering and the heuristic algorithm to toast furnace production line balance analysis, and by using the theory about planning and design to design production line, which has a good theoretical significance and practical significance.
