Nowadays the world’s energy and environment problems are becoming more and more serious. Building energy consumption accounts for more than 40% of the world’s total energy consumption, building energy efficiency has become the key to energy saving and emission reduction. In recent years, as the building construction industry in our country is developing so fast that the total building area and building energy consumption is rising year by year. The work of building energy efficiency must be accelerated because building energy consumption accounts for about 27.5% of the total society’s terminal energy consumption. With the development of construction industry and the emergence of the architectural design diversity, building performance-based evaluation method which broke through the restriction of traditional prescriptive indicator is paid more and more attention. At present the application of building performance-based evaluation method would lead to a lot of problems because the study of this method is very in-deep and the method system is not complete in China. This article mainly aims to study a complete building performance-based evaluation method research which considers hvac system and building envelope.First of all, this article analyzed the research status of the performance-based evaluation method at home and abroad and compared different methods of different countries and regions. Starting from the problems of the performance-based evaluation method in our country, the research route of performance-based evaluation methods in China is discussed and key points of the performance-based evaluation method in our country is summed up. We got a conclusion that the reference system, building model parameters configuration principle and the simplified calculation method must be studied in the research. Combining with the advantages of different countries’ performance-based evaluation method, the applying rules of the performance-based evaluation method in our country, computational tools and evaluation benchmark are analyzed and determined.In this paper, the reference system of performance-based evaluation method in our country is studied. This reference systems of different countries’ performance-based evaluation methods are analyzed, and we got a conclusion that the reference system type is influenced by the conventional design method of the country and region. The questionnaire investigation of 192 buildings in China is carried out and a reference system according with the characteristics of conventional design method in China is put forward. The advantages and disadvantages of different reference systems are compared and analytic hierarchy process(ahp) is applied on the analysis of different reference systems. The reliability of reference system is studied through its application in actual design case by energy consumption simulation calculation. Finally the reference system of performance-based evaluation method which suits for our country is determined.Building model parameter information configuration principle is studied starting from the limits of prescribed standards and building conventional design approach in China in order to ensure the reference building has high typicality and representativity. The design parameter selection principle of cooling and heating source equipment, distribution system and terminal equipment are studied and this performance-based evaluation method is applied in actual cases to make functional display.Because of the complex operation and huge workload of using building energy simulation software in traditional performance-based evaluation method, this article studied the simplified parametic calculation tool in performance-based evaluation method. Designer can use simple EXCEL spreadsheet and design parameters to calculate building annual energy consumption. The mathematical models of parametric computational tool are studied and the use method of the calculation tool is introduced. Finally this paper verified the accuracy of the calculation tool in actual design cases.
