As the main carrier of the shipping industry, its safety and efficiency during the running process largely depends on the quality of the ship’s main propulsion device with the development of the times.the shortcomings of the traditional diesel engine direct propulsion have gradually appeared, it can not meet the requirements of modern ships for the main propulsion device as time goes by. As a new type of ship propulsion,the hydraulic podded propulsion technology has a series of advantages,such as good maneuverability, highly safety, and excellent comprehensive performance,so thus can meet the requirements of modern ships.In this paper, the features of the hydraulic podded propulsion technology are analyzed and compared with traditional ship propulsion methods,it is proved that the research of hydraulic podded propulsion technology is necessary.And relevant research on a fishing boat is carried out, The main task includes the following three aspects:(1)A hydraulic system diagram is designed, based on the working environment of the real ship, and the main parameters of the hydraulic system are calculated according to the propeller propulsion power, the type selection of hydraulic requirement of the hydraulic system are selected to fit the performance requirements, including hydraulic motors, hydraulic pumps and the main valves.(2)The hydraulic system is analyzed mathematically,the mathematical model of the hydraulic system is build, and the hydraulic platform system was set up,then the system is simulated and optimized using AMEsim.(3)The structure of the pod is designed when can fit the performance requirements, the three-dimensional model is built by Solidworks,then the structural strength and stress is analyzed, the data from Solidworks stress analysis software is applied to and optimize the size and structure of pod.
