The single function of car dashboard technology can not meet the requirements of people for intelligent car. So, it’s necessary to develop the multi-purpose vehicle intelligent analog gauges. Currently,there has been equipped with intelligent analog meter in the car on the market. However,the main technology is in the foreign,and it is not mature enough.the function is relatively simple. In this paper,we designed a intelligent analog instrument display system which based on ARM and Linux embedded technology to meet the requirements of people for intelligent car.In view of people’s requirements for comfort in the driving process, an auto intelligent instrument display system is designed in this paper. Its main function is to intelligently display and show the driver the running status parameters of automobiles through user-friendly interface;meanwhile, it can offer passengers entertainment, and relieve their tiredness during the trip.The auto intelligent instrument display system designed in this paper uses an embedded system as a platform, and ARM-architecture S3C2440 core processor is used.It has such advantages as low power consumption, powerful functions, superior performance and easy development; Linux system is chosen as the operating system platform. Linux is a real-time embedded operating system, and it has such advantages as open source, kernal being able to cut and supporting 64-bit CPU(compatible with32-bit); Qtopia graphical interface developed by Trollech Company is chosen as the system display interface, and it has such advantages as strong portability, making beautiful and friendly interface, and powerful functions. CAN bus is adopted to establish the fieldbus network for data transmission. CAN bus is a vehicle-level fieldbus,and has the advantages of fast transmission speed and stable signals. At the same time,such peripherals as touch screens are added for auxiliary operation, improving the operability of the system. Therefore, the designed embedded intelligent instrument display system is very powerful, and can meet people’s requirements for automobile intelligence.In this paper, mainly the following work is completed: design and establishment of hardware platform for the whole system, including the selection of hardwarecomponents and design and implementation of the overall circuit; design and implementation of Linux operating system, including the establishment of uboot, file system construction and kernel transplantation; programming of device driver, mainly the driver for CAN equipment and LCD-screen equipment; at the same time, circuit debugging of hardware is also introduced in this paper; in the last part of this paper,testing is designed, including LCD display testing, CAN network communication testing and Qtopia interface display virtual instrument testing. Through the built system platform, it can realize the function of auto intelligent instrumentation, and achieve the design goal.
