Bicycles were widely used in China. With the expansion of social economic development and urban scale, the city block functions are divided into further detail. Residents travel distance is increasing, demanding for motorized travel.In recent years, electric bicycle, an effortless, fast, low-cost means of transport, appears in people’s vision. Electric bicycle is fully accepted and liked by the majority of residents since the day of its invention. But its rapid developmentalso brings a lot of road traffic problems.Electric bicycle belongs toan unstable two-wheel system, so it should be used in a non-motor vehicle lane, together with the bike. However, the large difference between its speed and the bike’s results in a large number of electric bicycles traveling on motorized vehicles, randomly intersperse among motor vehicles. Not only cause all of these a serious interference with the motor-viehcle-flow, but also cause a danger to itself. And this indicates that the existing non-motorized lane can no longer meet the need.Traditionalbicycle and electric bicycle are divided into non-motor vehicle categoryin this article.Motorcycles is not discussed here.The article is started with a research background description of the necessary of the research after referringto and summarizing a lot of scientific literatures. The outline, driving, riding and speed characteristicsof bicycle and electric bicycle are analyzed. The analysis of the difference of velocities between bicycle and electric bicycleshows the necessary ofthe research on the speed discretenessespecially. Next, the serpentine swing range of electric bicycle riding is measured through the track recording. And the driving position of bicycle and electric bicycle on the road are recorded by research videos, both under the physical isolationcondition and non physical isolation condition. The article describes the interference between bicycle and electric bicycle through three aspects, surpass behavior, following behavior and avoidance behavior. And surpass behavior is especially modeled, calculated and analyzedbased on video investigation data shot in xi ’an,. Following behavior and avoidance behavior caused by surpass behavior are analyzed, too. So the mechanism of the interference can be cleared.Next, under the circumstances like the isolation barrier and non- isolation barrier, the impact made by motor vehicles on the bicycle and electric bicycle are described, and the lateral spaces between motor vehicles and bicycles or electric bicycles under normal circumstances are cleared.Finally, in view of the previous research results, suggestions on the improvement of the urban non-motorized transport facilities are put forward, mainly against the current situation that electric bicycle appears more and moreon the city roads, laying the foundation for practical applications.
