The Metro rollingstock is one of the most important part of urban transport. So it is very important for its stable working. As the heart of electrical propulsion car – the power system, the traction system of rollingstock is one of the most critical part. So how could the traction system run stablely after commercial warranty period during nearly 35 years’ life time, it is a hard question to the warranty team of metro operation company.Now the maintenance of traction system, is the only the replacement of critical part. It could not guarantee the function of whole system is well, it could not confirm the completeness from system and function. Such situation always happen: after replace the module, it train has lost power in line and wait for help. It waste lots of human power and acquire little effect.The paper introduce a new ground test method and application for metro electrical traction system(Shanghai Line 3,5) for traction inverter and auxiliary converter.it is consist of the system power source, equipment to be tested, load system measurement, control appliance and industry control computer. The details of this project are listed as:1. Studying the principle of rollingstock electrical propulsion.(Shanghai Line3 Metropolis) and its electrical architecture, propulsion instructions and running mode,also the test method and analysis, it gives the theoretical basis of the construction and the design of the test bench.2. According to the data: electric diagram and interfaces of traction system. Designed the test area layout and electric type-selection design. Has studied in which state that the system could keep working well. Use ARM chip as the core and its programming platform Keil design the system test PCB board and test software, used VC# to design an upper monitor.3. According to the interface list of Shanghai Line 3 system diagram and train electric system. Has designed the detail test circuit and type-selection design. Especially for the case test system, it has used the double control system to avoid suddenly failure. The manual-control mode use the panel button and industrial meter to control the whole system. The computer-control mode use Simens PLC S7-300 and configuration software Wincc to design the monitor window and background software. All the electrical parameter of sensors could show on the monitor window of industrial PC.4. The combined test for the test platform and equipment to be tested with load. Analyze the failure wave and has improved the result. Now the test bench has been applied to the normal work successfully.After several months’ trial operation of test bench, the design of this test equipment is well. Also it could move another step for innovation: make it compatible for other kinds of power module and traction system.
