As the main ship power system, the performance of marine diesel engine directly affects the driving range, mobility, etc. and the economy of the ship. The design and manufacturing of key components of marine diesel is an important factor affecting the development cycle of diesel engine. Due to the complexity of marine diesel key components’ structure characteristics, compared with conventional manufacturing, the design and manufacturing has its characteristics and problems, such as numerous design and manufacturing information, unintuitive expression by two-dimensional drawings, complex manufacturing processes, high manufacturing precision, severe information coupling between each stage and long development cycle etc.. Therefore, the research of digital definition technology based on MBD oriented integration has significance, meanwhile; laid the foundation for the application of digital manufacturing technology in diesel engine under full three-dimensional environment. The main contents and results are as follows:(1) Aiming for the existing problems of key components of marine diesel’s design and manufacturing process, by utilizing digital definition method based on MBD, the MBD model fully defined became the sole basis for design and manufacturing, unique data source was ensured, with the traditional design and manufacturing mode changed, the information transmission efficiency improved, the design and manufacturing basis transferred from 2D to 3D realized.(2) According to the structural characteristics of marine diesel key components and the connotations of MBD technology, digital definition of space model was established, specific content and classification of MBD dataset was analyzed, the organization of digital definition information was confirmed, and put forward the basic principle of digital definition about key components of marine diesel, laid the foundation for digital definition of key components of marine diesel.(3) To solve the problem of 3D digital definition standard lacking in marine diesel design and manufacturing industry, combined the practical requirement of digital definition technology and characteristics of software platform in marine diesel manufacturing enterprise, the system framework of digital definition standard for key components of marine diesel was established. And according to the principles of digital definition standard, partial specification was drafted.(4) For the characteristics of frame parts in marine diesel, such as complex structure, numerous design and manufacturing information and high integration degree etc., the method of digital information expression and transmission of frame parts based on model view set was proposed. The mapping relation between model view set and direction capture set was studied, and the information organization of the frame parts was analyzed, and confirmed the digital definition scheme of frame parts based on model view set.(5) Based on the above theoretical research targets, by using the NX customization tools, developed the digital definition software of key components of marine diesel. And the reliability and practicability of the software is verified through practical application. This research also made the beneficial exploration of promoting the application of digital definition technology in shipbuilding industry.
