Various risks lurk in the process of a project, which once occurs, causing deviation from the project objective. Those deviations may accumulate until lead to failure of the entire project. Within this background, risk management becomes a main content of project management.Using knowledge that was accumulated during his postgraduate period andbased on literature, the author made a relatively complete comb of the theory ofconstruction project risk management. Then under the guidance of the theory he used related methods and tools to discuss the risk management of Jilin oil field natural gas pipeline construction project, which is called “Jilin oilfieldpipeline-project” for short. First, the project was decomposed into small tasks with WBS(Work Breakdown Structure) and main risks of each task were identified into several kinds; then risk-evaluation standards was determined to compare the consequenceseverities of every two kinds of risk, and the method of AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) was used to make assessments of risks; in the end, some measures were made to cope with risks that deserve more attention, and some support suggestions were given to enhance the capacity of risk management during Jilin oil fieldpipeline-project.Thepaper used the literature research method, case research method as well asthe combination of qualitative methods and quantitative methods, and the main results are as follows:(1) risks of each stage of the whole project were comprehensively identified, and were reasonably classified into several kinds;(2) using expert scoring method and based on reasonable qualitative analysis,a quantitative method to assess various riskswasestablished;(3) ratings for all kinds of risks according to the risk assessment results, and some countermeasures were given for high level risks. The above research results providesome practical guiding significancefor risk managementduring Jilin oil field natural gas pipeline construction projectas well as other similar engineering projects.
