Vehicle overloading harm is self-evident, causing serious damage to infrastructure, to threaten the safety of life and property of the people, to disrupt the market economic order, but also cause environmental pollution. Overloading detection is on the premise of vehicle weighing, primarily through the traditional weighbridge and dynamic weighing station. On the one hand weighbridge, weigh stations cannot cover the entire road network, it is easy to bypass by the illegal operators to evade investigated; besides, they have an effect on traffic efficiency. Equipped with a GPS / GPRS vehicle-mounted dynamic weighing instrument can effectively solve the problem mentioned above.In this paper, the author has an in-depth study of vehicle-mounted dynamic weighing technology, then designs and implements the intelligent overload detection and monitoring system based on 32-bit processor core Cortex_M3. Its function is to detect the vehicle load information. The information will be sent to the monitoring platform. The main work is as follows:Firstly, the principle and the techniques about vehicle-mounted system for overloading detect and monitor are summarized; Secondly, based on the analysis of the prior art, the architecture of vehicle load weighing and monitoring platform is designed; Thirdly, with key techniques of vehicle weighing based on strain sensor, the algorithm of weighing with multichannel weighted summation method is proposed. Loading information is detected by the strain sensor which is soldered on the car axle. Fourthly, on vehicle dynamic detect,the weight of each channel is calculated with demarcation data, used the least square method. Vehicle running or not is judged through the signal itself. When vehicle is stopping, the device calculates the weight; when the vehicle is running, the data of the weight keeps invariant, is displayed on the monitoring platform.All things mentioned above, are tested and validated on overloading transportation system. The result indicates the system has high accuracy, reliability.
