The goal of environmental testing is to verify the product quality and reliability, with product being exposed to natural or artificial environment. With the abundance of industrial products, more and more attention has been focused on environmental testing. Environmental test chambers use technology to simulate the natural environment and climate, and its functions are protecting test environment from being affected by the interference of the external environment and shortening test cycle. In order to improve the reliability of the products, many new environmental testing standards are put forwarded, so environmental test chambers must meet many diversified demands.Product family development technology based on product platform is beneficial to design and develop a series of products to meet different market demands in shorter time with lower cost. Research on product platform design method and establishment of adaptable product platform design for environmental testing chambers can help designers develop different products to meet diversified market demands at a higher speed, with lower cost and higher efficiency, and this is very important to reduce customer’s test cost and improve the product’s environment friendly attribute. Therefore, the research of adaptable platform design for environmental test chambers have important theoretical research value and practical significance.Firstly, the research status of product family design, modular design and parametric design are introduced in turn. Besides, the design requirements for adaptable platform design of environmental test chambers are analyzed, and the structure and the main content of the thesis are illustrated subsequently. Secondly, real needs of customers are obtained with the help of fuzzy Kano model and level extension method based on customer demand is proposed to establish function model of product family. Thirdly, in order to realize the reasonable decomposition of general function, the method based on heuristic rules is adopted to divide the modules of product family function model. Meanwhile, trapezoidal fuzzy number is introduced, and the type of the function model is identified with change index and transmission index. In this way, can basic modules, flexible modules and individualized modules be obtained. Finally, to achieve the reasonable adjustment of key parameters in flexible modules, considering various factors, such as environment cost and the manufacturing cost, assessment method based on life cycle attributes is proposed. Platform index and regulating index are developed to distinguish the platform parameters and independent parameters of flexible modules, so that the platform components and flexible components can be identified. Based on the above design and modeling, the design method of environmental test chambers’ adaptable platform is studied. It mainly includes the following content:(1) the personality module function analysis and structure design, which is helpful to achieve the planning of the personality module;(2) analyzes of principles of interface design, which is helpful to interface design;(3) summary of combination method of function module, establishment of adaptable product platform and design for variety of environmental test chambers. In the end, this paper summarizes all of the work involved in the project, and gives prospect of the later study work.
