Facing the severe crisis of global resources’ shortage today, control and saving of energy consumption attract more and more people’s attention. Together with the booming development of C hinese economy and rapid process of urbanization, total energy consumption of architecture has a significant increase and makes a larger proportion in the gross of energy using. Currently, architects already make deep research on low-energy design of office buildings, they focus on the new technologies, new energy, new materials, new building components and construction methods, which have received significant research developments. However, in the present study areas, little efforts are spared at the low-power design of cold region office building.In this context, the paper studies the severe cold region office building shape parameters and the qualititative relationship between the energy consumption. The establishment of cold region multilayer office building typical morphological data parameter set bases on the office building of sample survey. By the simulation experiments of various shape elements, it is concluded that with the quantitative relationship of energy consumption, and sums up the best form design parameter set and various parameters and the energy consumption of the multivariate regression model, to explore how to more effective in the construction design stage to control energy consumption of buildings.The paper firstly analyzes the current situation of the low-energy office building design and the morphological characteristics of office building in cold region, extracting important parameters which affects morphology design of office building energy consumptions, and establish research methods and frameworks. We set about from the important paremeters such as the building plane shape, the total length in depth and width of architecture, building height and the window to wall ratio, selecting the existing office building in Harbin to practical survery and research, collecting morphological parameters and making range analysis to achieve Harbin’s typical parameter database of office buildings morphological form design, and build typical model of multi- storey office building in cold area.Secondly, we introduce and take advantange of the whole building energy consumption simulation software-energyplus, in regard to the variables such as building plane shape, orientation of the architecture, body design parameters including the total length in depth and width of architecture, building height and the window to wall ratio of all directions, using the actual researching data of the typical morphological parameters as the input dataset to conduct energy simulation experiments. With using of statistical methods to make data corresponding correlation and regression analysis, we obtain energy-related impact compared with all design elements forms and energy consumption trends with the elements. We also acquire the quantitative relationships of energy consumption with the common design morphological parameters and low-energy multi-storey office building optimal shape design parameter set, which can be actual direct guidance in the phase of low-energy office building form design.Finally, by means of the multiple linear regression analysis of existing analog data set, we acquire a given multivariate regression model considering the relationship between the total length of the width and depth direction, the building height all-direction window to wall ratio and and energy consumption of buildings, and the final expression of single-plane area of the building, building aspect ratio, height, window to wall ratio and building energy consumption.We also take sensitivity analysis to measure the quantitative relationship between energy consumption and various forms of factors, so that can quickly and efficiently get the contrastion of each design’s building energy consumption and make a determination by the application of the model.The research on the q uantitative relationships between architectural form of cold regions office buildings and their energy consumption can make important influence upon the control of building energy consumption in the architectural design phase, which offers guidance and method to the low-energy design work. The models and the sets of the most energy-effeient form parameters can quickly judge the energy-saving effects of cold area multi-storey office building design, and timely modify the morphological parameters to get the best design results.
