As the development of traffic engineering, especially the development of highways, subways, and train tracks, mountain tunnel and underground tunnel is strongly needed. To fulfill these needs, companies are working inside the mountain and under the ground. But unfortunately, construction safety problems are coming as well as the benefit for traffic.This project provides a wireless sensor system that can locate mechanical equipment and determine the source of the signal by dedicate vibrating signal. The system analyses the signal, determine the type of vibration, and upload the data via the wireless network to the upper machine.This project is designed following the general industrial electronics design process, and introduces the details and difficulties in this project. We put a new point of locate machines, and discuss the differences among kinds of vibration.This paper introduces the work that had finished in the project, including:analyzing safety problems that happen in tunnel construction, point out the needs of this sensor system; making solutions of hardware system; programing for the devices; researching the way to tell the differences among kinds of vibrations. This paper is divided into five chapters as the work in this project.The sensor network designed in project is highly sensitive, small, low-cost, and easy use. This sensor network system is highly suitable in tunnel construction.
