Nowadays, the requirements for handling stability performance and driving comfort of cars are increasing, the electric power steering has widely used in the steering system. The EPS technology has made great development, since GM using a batch of hydraulic power steering system in the production car for the first time in 1953. Electric power steering system(EPS) has received more and more attention and development, because of its better maneuverability, high efficiency, low energy consumption, good road sense, easy installation and maintenance and adjustment characteristics. It has become the focus of the present stage of the power steering system development. The EPS has already replaced others with hydraulic power steering technology in most production cars at present.The design and development of EPS includes two parts: hardware and control software. The design and development of control software is very important. The development of the EPS by traditional development methods is difficult and slow, since it involves the mechanical electric power steering, electronic and automatic control and other fields. Making a general survey of the current EPS products of various scientific research institutions, domestic manufacturers, the hardware has met the basic functional requirements, but design and control algorithm are not good enough. Using the Matlab/Simulink and d SPACE based on the proposed combining the hardware can effectively improve development efficiency, shorten the development cycle, save test cost in the development of the control system loop.First of all, this paper analyzed the electric power steering system(EPS) by kinetics modeling system, combined with the vehicle handling dynamics model. Then, it established the EPS nonlinear model and the power assisted motor target current in closed loop control of the EPS control model based on the motor model, under the environment of Matlab/Simulink.The fuzzy control, PID control of the EPS control mode were analyzed with the off-line simulation of two kinds of control methods, then we achieved a good control effect.Then, based on the off-line model, this paper design and realize the real hardware, to build a real-time simulation platform based on d SPACE, and the EPS model of control system of hardware in the loop simulation, the control algorithms in this paper are preliminary experimental verification.Research on modeling, simulation of EPS control system in this paper can be used in the development process of EPS system, especially in the loop simulation based on d SPACE hardware, for the research and development of EPS control system and other control system of VCU to provide a more efficient means.
