Development and utilization of wind, solar and other new energy sources has become an important way to solve energy demands. The wind/PV/storage hybrid generating systems using the complementarity of wind and solar energy, can greatly improve the lack of a single power generation system with a wide range of applications prospects. Especially in remote areas of China where wind and solar resources are very rich, it is very appropriate to generate electricity with an independent wind/PV/storage system. Whether can reasonably allocate the capacity is related to the reliability and economy of the power system.This article describes background and the present research situation in China and abroad of the independent wind/PV/storage system. Based on a pasturing area in Erlianhot, the capacity configuration optimization of the system is proposed.First, the operational principles of wind turbines, solar arrays and batteries in the power generation system are analyzed, and the output models of the three parts are established, including wind speed model with two-parameter Weibull distribution, simplified photovoltaic cell model and Kinetic battery model. And energy scheduling strategy is proposed. Secondly, put the capacity configuration of the power system as a multi-objective optimization problem, measuring system reliability with the LPSP(loss of power supply probability), and measuring economic with LCC(life cycle cost), capacity configuration optimization model is established, where LPSP and LCC are as two objectives, and selection of power generation equipment, spare capacity of the system, batteries’ life and others as constraints. On this basis, select Erlianhot 50 herders’ living electricity as load, and collect local wind, solar resource data, use simulated annealing-particle swarm optimization to simulate in MATLAB. When simulating, a weighting coefficient is introduced into PSO algorithm to improve the optimizing ability. The energy flow in system is adjusted by the scheduling energy strategy, and then LPSP and LCC is obtained. And non-dominated sorting is used to solve the dual-objective optimization problem. The optimization algorithm simulation result show that LPSP is zero, it means that the result can meet the system’s reliability. Then select the best economic plan as the best configuration plan. Finally, set up the model of the independent wind/PV/storage system in HOMER, economy as the optimization goal, to allocate the capacity and obtain an optimum configuration scheme.Comparing two different optimization methods, the result shows that the both of them can solve the capacity configuration optimization problem of the independent wind/PV/storage system. The configuration results of the two methods are similar. In contrast, configuration based on SA-PSO has more excellent reliability and economy.
