As the heritage and records of city’s cultural and historical,the historical district plays an important and unique role in the whole process of urban development.With the rapid development of urban economy, sustained increase in residents ’ motor vehicles and the rapid development of business, culture, tourism and other industries prosperity, various types of parking demand in historical district has been being in the fast-growing.In order to alleviate the current embarrassing situation in the historic district parking facilities shortage and to minimize impact on the road traffic dynamics because of the parking behavior in historical district, on the basis of the parking facilities planning study on China’s city center district, historical district and the old city district,combined with the analysis on roads and traffic conditions, this paper from three angles: historical district parking facilities demand forecasting, roadside parking facilities planning and off road parking facilities planning, conducts the research on public parking facilities planning of historical district.(1)Parking demand forecast of the historic district.By comparing and analyzing the parking demand forecasting model and to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each model, parking demand prediction of historic blocks mainly aims at the characteristics of the times and land-using,then puts forward the public parking facilities demand forecasting model which is suitable for historical block.Meanwhile, with taking the the historic district of Xi’an as the example, the study has confirmed the parking demand forecast model which is proposed in thischapter.(2)Research on the roadside parking facilities planning of Historic district.Based on the analysis of road conditions and traffic conditions on the roadside parking facilities and on the quantitative research,this research has mainly established the roadside parking facilities scale model,which is suitable for the historical district and based on minimum generalized cost,in addition,has carried on the analysis of solving.At the same time, it has carried on the example application and the confirmation analysis with taking the Xi’an historical district as the example to the establishment model.Finally,this paper summarizes the methods of historical district parking facilities location selection and the planning principles.(3)Research on the off road parking facilities planning of Historic district.By considering some factors, such as: as far as possible to improve vehicle accessibility,shorten traveling walking distance and reduce the adjacent parking lot outside the street service radius of coverage overlap etc.this paper established the planning and site selection model on the road outside parking facility,which is based on the shortest generalized distance and minimum coverage overlap degree of adjacent parking service radius, at the same time,simplify the model solution and example analysis,with putting the Xi’an historical district as an example. In addition, this paper also summarizes the construction type selection method on off-street parking and some parking facility management suggestions.In addition, this paper, through comparing and analysing the different parking facilities construction forms and application of the new technology, which is called “the diagonal parking system by building higher margin”, has put forward some suggestions,for example:historic district are encouraged to use the underground garage and stereoscopic parking building, as well as to promote the use of the diagonal parking system by building higher margin.This paper on the research of public parking facilities planning of historical district can provide effective means and method for resolving historical district parking-related issues but also provides the theoretical basis and reference for the future planning and reconstruction of historical district.
