The Post Occupancy Evaluation Research On Urban City Square From Regional Culture Perspective

As a significant proportion of city space,squares,being praised as living rooms of cities,play a vital role in revealing regional culture.In the penetration of Reform and Opening up policy,China puts much efforts on promoting the economic development,which facilitates the development of city squares construction.Along with the positive effect,there also appears plenty of matters:the regional difference are more and more inconspicuous.Assimilation in design leads to serious regional feature crisis such as city feature and culture degeneration.On the other hand,space enviroment of squares is in the absence of humanization;design may emphasize much on strong visual effect while neglecting users’ real demands and mental feelings.Taking Jie Xiu San Xian square as a case to study,this article is based on regional culture,applying contrastive analysis approach to investigate after use condition of this square though the whole process from designing to constructing,combining regional design and Post Occupancy Evaluation methods,making a comprehensive evaluation of after construction environment.Finally,according to the Post Occupancy Evaluation results,this articles suggests the city square should develop reginal features through considering three respects:nature environment,society culture environment and social economic development environment.In addition,the construction should be based on‘ Design——Feedback——Redesign ’ circle to make city squares development sustainable in long term.Chapter four and five are this articles emphasis,making comprehensive evaluation out of regional culture aspect on square design in Chapter three,employing the evaluation result into implication to future design.This constitutes a positive circle:construction in later period could take earlier deficiency as experience to make improvements.This will not only endow specialty on squares construction,but also harmonizing design and use to make squares as real city sign and publicity tool.
