Design Optimization Study Of Dongguan Dongcheng Cultural Park Based On Post Occupancy Evaluation

Urban public space is the place where the citizens' social life is,specifically speaking,the urban centre's greening area is not only the place where citizens are engaged in the activities of entertainment,socializing and approaching the nature,while all the above outdoor activities are affected by the space quality;but also indicates a city's evolvement and development,reflects the culture connotation and folklore features.The vigorous urban construction grants speedy growth in China's park constructions,even though the actual occupancy and the updates haven't been brought to our attention accordingly.The urban regional parks are medium scaled and frequently utilized,along with facilities and diverse activities.It would help to maximize the function of natural and humanistic ecology if we follow the occupancy of the finished parks and improve the user experience accordingly.This paper employed the project Cultural Park,Dongcheng District,Dongguan,in which the author was involved as main designer,to study the post-occupancy evaluation.It consists of three main methods,respectively are on-site observation,interview and questionnaire survey,based on the POE(Post-Occupancy Evaluation)theory and practical results also the characteristics of the Cultural Park and the main purpose of the study.This paper illustrates a comprehensive occupancy analysis and evaluation of the finished Cultural Park,then outlines the optimization suggestions,with the aim to explore the issues shall be paid attention to design urban regional parks,while enrich the author's design experience.In the context of the increasing emphasis on urban greening planning and design in China,this paper consulted references like domestic and foreign studies and classic cases.It applied comprehensive POE model to the project Cultural Park,Dongcheng District,Dongguan and accomplished a rethink.From the data analysis of results we can found that landscape is altogether satisfactory,but the setting of the passageway,exercise yard,communal facilities and the barrier free design are to be strengthened.On this basis,this paper summarized optimization strategies of city regional park from passageway and boundary,exercise yard,communal facilities,barrier free design,the Park Theme and style and Public participation these five aspect.From this specific project,this paper aims to explore the key design points in urban regional parks,provide reference for the POE study of similar regional parks,as well as raise people's attention to follow the occupancy of the finished parks..
