A Critical Reviewing And Performance Evaluating On The Model Of Urban-rural Spatial Integration Of Suburban County In Chengdu

Urban-rural space is the primary site of social life for both urban and rural residents. Also, it has been considered as the fundamental carrier for the communication and presentation of human’s information. The basic characters of dynamism, openness and liquidity of urban-rural space have ensured a reasonable distribution and an unconstrained communication and transformation between various kinds of urban-rural resources and information. Normally, the urban-rural spatial integration is often comprehensively reflected by the mutual interaction of different factors such as economy, social, population, culture and ecology. So this very kind of integration often operate as an integral whole and focus on the relative, complementary and interactive relationship between urban and rural spaces. Suburb refers to a residential district located on the outskirts of cities, it has a close relationship with downtown and other surrounding areas along with its self-development.As the core space carrier for the people who live around Chengdu, Shuangliu County plays an important role in the process of Chengdu City’s urban-rural integration. Therefore, it is critical to explore and study the development of Shuangliu’s part in the integration and to analyze the distributive, flow mechanism between those spatial factors. It is also a big issue and vital example to look into the internal interactive mechanism and the future trends from Shuangliu’s experience for the Western Area Development Plan in China.First of all, this article is tried to distinguish the different concepts between: urban-rural space, integration and spatial integration of urban-rural areas. Through reviewing and analyzing the cases, theories and practice from both local and international research result and experience in related to urban-rural integration. Secondly, the construction of evaluation index system in this essay is intended to cover the factors such as: urbanrural space, economy, social, population, culture, ecology, to finally analyze the strength and weakness of Shuangliu’s urban-rural integrative development.Moreover, this article provides an overview to the present development of urban-rural integration in Chengdu and Shuangliu. Those more specific details of Shuangliu’s present situation including: urban space, economic space, social space, transportation space and ecological space are fully discussed, so as the pros and cons are also evaluated. Eventually, based on the research result above, further suggestions and advices are drawn and provided evidently on improving Shuangliu’s effectiveness of using ecological space, economic space, urban space and facility space.
