This paper analyzes the schedule control practice of Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant (referred to as "NPP" hereafter) radioactive environment monitoring station, explores the project schedule development method of the AP1000 NPP radioactive environment monitoring station as well as issues already happened or potential risks that may impact the project schedule and cause big variance during execution of the project schedule. Besides, this paper also describes the construction period optimization and project schedule adjustment of the Haiyang NPP radioactive environment monitoring station by exemplifying the construction period optimization process through related calculation and analysis so as to reasonably develop the optimized and adjusted project schedule to guide the construction and help to achieve the contractual schedule target with the ultimate purpose to provide experience and lessons regarding schedule control management of radioactive environment monitoring station for future similar projects.This paper first adopts the critical path method to analyze the critical path of the project based on the prerequisites of meeting the government supervision and contractual requirements as well as considering both the upstream and downstream uncertain factors. Through work breakdown system, the project activities are brought up to each single work item, on the basis of which the Special Schedule of Haiyang NPP Radioactive Environment Monitoring Station is developed. Based on the actual schedule delay of the project due to outside coordination and design issues, etc. that has caused impacts on the total construction period, this paper utilizes the critical chain technique to optimize the construction period of the project, especially construction period of key work items, and describes the dynamic management measures to the correspondingly updated the project schedule.In order to ensure the project goes on smoothly as per and matches the updated project schedule, and in the end achieve the schedule target and contractual schedule requirements, this paper provides the schedule control measures in terms of technical preparation, economic incentive, organization and coordination, equipment and material supply, etc. to assure the normal project progress.
