The dynamic and economic performance of the vehicle is an important indicator to measure vehicle performance, and it is also a key consideration in vehicle design. Improving the matching effect of power system is an important way to improve the dynamic performance and economic performance of the vehicle. The traditional matching method is to carry out the whole vehicle test after modifying the parameters of the transmission system, and finally determine the matching scheme. But this method not only wastes time and manpower, but also easy to miss out the best matching scheme of the automobile transmission system, which can’t achieve the most reasonable matching. With the rapid development of computer technology, a number of software which can be realized by computer simulation is created. AVL-Cruise is one of them.AVL-Cruise is the simulation package that supports daily tasks in vehicle system and driveline analysis throughout all development phases, from concept planning, through to launch and beyond. We can use AVL-Cruise to set up carol simulation model and get relevant data for both conventional vehicle and HEV.We take the light truck as the research object, and center on matching optimization of drive transmission parameters to improve the vehicle’s dynamic and economic performance. This paper develops the following research:1) Declare and analysis the existing vehicle power and fuel economy index, and on this basis determine the research direction.2) In the AVL-Cruise platform, build simulation model of the whole vehicle. And briefly introduces the main parameters and mathematical model in the AVL-Cruise software. The model which contains the engine, clutch, gearbox, main reducer, brake, wheel modules and so on. The light truck simulation model is built by putting the relevant parameters which are known to the AVL-Cruise software.Then set up the calculation task and carry out simulation calculation, and get the relevant evaluation index of power performance and economic performance.3) Carrying out the road vehicle test according as the national standard, and measuring the related performance evaluation index. Then statistics the test data and compared it to simulation results to verify the credibility of the model, which provides the computer base for coming subsequent optimization.4) Considering the actual situation of the production, we combined there transmissions and the final drives for powertrain matching. Using the DOE design method of the AVL-Cruise software to simulate the tasks. And select the plan which gets the best performance.According to the research result above, AVL-Cruise software can get an extremely high accuracy of over 95%. It is certified that AVL-cruise could be used to imitate and calculate the engine power performance and economy at a equal speed situation or certain cycle working condition. Therefore it can be used into the process of the designing and developing of the vehicle to instead of the real engine power and economy testing. It is an efficient way to reduce the developing cost and shorten product development cycle.
