With the development of ship’s large, intelligence and the application of new technology like electric propulsion, there are more and more electrical equipment which consuming more power on board, making the power system more and more complicated. Therefore the requirement of ship power management system is stricter, and the controlling, monitoring and management of marine power station are more and more important. The application of the ship power management system can ensure reliability and continuity of the power supply to ship and its quality will directly influence the security and economy of sailing ship.In this thesis, the ship power management system is designed and realized based on the sufficient research and analysis of current domestic and overseas marine power station auto-control equipment. SIEMENS S7-200 PLC and industrial PC are utilized as core device for the ship power management system, and they are communicating through PROFIBUS-DP. The software WinCC is used on the industrial PC to design interface to display the system parameters, status and alarm information of marine power station, and remote control of the system. This thesis introduces the work principle of the system and the selection of methods of power refinement clearly, it also introduces the hardware design clearly, using software STEP 7 MicroWIN V4.0 to program for the main function of the ship power management system through the design of flow chart. There is also an introduction of how to realize the PROFIBUS-DP communication between the SIEMENS S7-200 PLC and the industrial PC.After hardware connection and software programming, the experiment and debugging are needed to be done to ensure that the system can realize the function of auxiliary generators automatic start and stop, quasi-synchronous parallelization, automatic frequency and load control, heavy load inquire and generator protection. The experiment results prove that the control system can accomplish all the scheduled tasks and run stably and reliably in the laboratory environment.
