Study On Landscape Characteristics Of Xuzhou City In The Perspective Of Ecology And Culture

The construction and development of urban landscape architecture have long been concerning the society as an important matter. With the rapid development of globalisation at present, the construction level of urban landscape architecture has become constantly increasing.However, convergence in garden has also become tremendous and the vibrant primitive regional characteristics are gradually disappearing. Hence, as to how to reshape regional characteristics during urban garden constructions and extend the historical contexts of cities has become an urgent issue.Xuzhou had been made the capital of ancient China for more than a thousand years. It is of over 6 thousand years and 4 thousand years of civilisation and city history, respectively. It is geographically situated in a powerful and influential position that makes ‘Chu and Han rhymes as well as beautiful in the south and magnificent in the north’ its most distinctive regional and cultural characteristics. What’s more, it has been awarded the honorary titles of nationally renowned city of history and culture, national garden city as well as the most beautiful city of China, etc. In the construction of gardens, Xuzhou concentrates on the excavation and inheritance of history as all as culture, along with the abundant demonstration of the cultural connotation in such region. Thus, the experience of Xuzhou in urban garden construction is definitely worth concluding and learning.Through the observation of literatures, field investigation, comparative research as well as empirical analysis and so on, this paper mainly studies the development phases and characteristics of landscape architecture in Xuzhou in the perspective of ecology and culture. In addition, this paper also puts forwards the design guidelines so as to guide and aid future constructions of landscape architecture in Xuzhou. The results are majorly shown below:(1) The gardens of Xuzhou mainly have been through five stages, namely the phases of germination, shaping and maturing of ancient gardens, along with the developmental and prosperous periods of modern gardens. The changes of the times, the development of the society and economy and the influence of historical figures make that each stage has its unique landscaping style and characteristics. These stages are the source and grounding of the formationas well as development of architectural characteristics of modern gardens in Xuzhou. Therefore,further constructions of landscape architecture with the characteristics of Xuzhou require the inheritance and innovation of such phases.(2) According to the analysis of various gardening essentials, involving plants, buildings,topography, water, hills tones and landscape sketches, etc., each of them are equipped with their own characteristics and advantages. As located in the boundary of north and south, it’s influenced by warm temperate zone and northern subtropic zone, and natural conditions have both the advantages of both north and South. Thus, the characteristics of the most important plants landscape include the integration of mountains and rivers that demonstrates the unique regional glamour; the simulation of wild nature that is assigned with rural phytocoenosium; the bridge between north and south that brings in both delicate beauty and magnificent views; along with the extension of seasons that composes abundant colors. Because of the north and south culture blending, construction technology exchange and its own cultural impact, traditional garden constructions not only inherit the characteristics of ancient Chinese garden building, but also is supplemented with the unique local glamour of Xuzhou. As a result, the constructions in such place are of different varieties, distributed in accordance with topography, styled with the integration of north and south, along with in possession of poetic and artistic concepts. Moreover,the layouts, topography and water, etc., are designed based on local characteristics and conditions, revealing the glamour of a scenic city. Furthermore, the historic elements lying in the gardens demonstrates the cultural connotation. In one word, Xuzhou is characterized with urban landscape architecture that is of spectacular scenery, delicate greenery, the integration of beauty in the south and magnificence in the north, along with the demonstration of Chu and Han aroma.(3) Through the extraction of characteristics, design guidelines for the landscape architecture with characteristics of Xuzhou are proposed from the perspectives of garden essentials, design principle and goal as well as greenery types.
