An Exploration Of The Design Trends Of City Site Museums— Take Nanjing As An Example

As China continues to accelerate the process of urban renewal, social material while growing public concern for culture and history have gradually improved, the main manifestation is nearly 20 years building a large number of museums nationwide creation. Among the many kinds of museums, site museum is an independent branch, with its interactive display and protection of the full model combining, at this stage, and gradually known and accepted by the public. Nanjing, as a microcosm of Chinese ancient capital, more concentrated withdrawal of multi-category multi-level site museum development.This article is based on the theory of architectural space combination by Peng Yigang, and the theory of city image by Kevin Lynch. By selecting relevant case in Nanjing as the main object of analysis to urban renewal in the city center site museum research status and development trend of the core content. Through qualitative analysis and case comparison, to make introductory design method researech. During the analysis, from site museum’s Milestones and concepts defined trigger, focusing on museums and the city level, the museum interior space level. The author personally research four projects, Nanjing Museum, Nanjing Folk Museum, Jiangningzhizao Museum and Six Dynasty Museum. Mainly discusses the way of protection and show, flow lines, borders, kernel space and auxiliary space content and other major matters, to make assorted summary, while combined with relevant overseas success projects analysis, summarized the problems and its development possibilities.Finally, to make a briefly summarize the current situation and to focus on the possible design strategies and trends for the future protection of the city’s sites protection and site museum design to provide a reference.This article includes 5 chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of the object and the content of this study, the study’s purpose and significance, research methods, and research literature. The second chapter is the concepts of site museums.The third chapter is the study of the background, including Nanjing city’s historical and cultural background and urban background of cases.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the four cases.The fifth chapter is summarize and conclusion of the cases from five evaluation elements of space. And then the design trends and coping strategies to make a presentation.
