As a kind of advanced road transport organization form, Drop and pull transport may effectively reduce the waiting time cause of tractor cargo handling. Meanwhile the Drop and pull transport would improve the utilization rate of the tractor. So it plays a more and more important role in improving the level of organization of road transport, optimizing the structure of freight capacity, and facilitating the transformation on the traditional road transport to the modern logistics industry. In recent years, the pilot work of drop and pull transport is now in full swing in our country. While enjoying great achievements in drop and pull transport, the problems of vehicle scheduling increasingly come out which restricts development and promotion of benefit of drop and pull transport to a certain extent.On the research of drop and pull transport, scholars at home and abroad mainly focus on the aspects of traffic safety, organizational pattern, policies and regulations and so on. However, the research on the drop and pull transport vehicle scheduling problem remains to be perfected. In addition, there exists some potential disadvantages in the research such as the single organizational pattern, the inexact model building, single and unilateral study on single depot and so on. In order to effectively solve the related issues, the article would make a deep analysis on the organizational pattern and the vehicle scheduling features of drop and pull transport based on the application status of drop and pull transport. Meanwhile the article researches on the scheduling problem of multiple-depot network drop and pull transport vehicle and does a useful exploration in enriching the drop and pull transport theory to guide practice work. The main research works of the article are as follows:Firstly, deep analysis and summary would be made on organization pattern features of drop and pull transport and its vehicle scheduling technological process based on the related research summary of achievements and shortage at home and abroad. At the mean time, it would generalize the mode of network drop and pull transport, join the complex issues of multiple-depot selection, and then make a research on the scheduling problem of drop and pull transport vehicle based on all of above.Secondly, the bi-objective optimal pattern function would be built on the basis of the research content of this article, the previous research results and the multiple-depot network drop and pull transport vehicle scheduling. The three-stage research and respective algorithm design of depot allocation, transportation routing optimization and vehicle configurations would be made in order to propose the concept of “drop and pull work pair” in the route optimization stage of transportation which makes the problems reasonable. And then the C++ programming would be used in the algorithm flow to realize algorithm procedure on Visual Studio 2013.Finally, the practicability and validity of the multiple-depot network drop and pull transport vehicle scheduling model and algorithm proposed in the article would be verified by means of analysis of two examples. On one hand, practical verification of the proposed model and algorithm would be made to solve the problems of the open type drop and pull transport vehicle scheduling by use of a company’s actual data. On the other hand, it would make contrastive analysis by use of the data which is raised in former literature and also verify the algorithm appeared in the article to solve the scheduling problems of the enclosed type drop and pull transport vehicle.
