In recent years, with the rapid development of transportation, automatic train operation (ATO) technology of the urban rail transit has been deeply researched. However, in heavy-haul railway, most of the control modes are still manual control vehicles mode. Due to the long body, high mass and operational difficulties of the heavy-haul freight train, the drivers will become extremely busy and nervous when driving. Meanwhile, because of the restrictions on air braking conditions and route speed limit, the train cannot operate efficient. If the ATO device is used on the heavy-haul train, which will greatly improve the efficiency of train operation and reduce the pressure of driving.Based on improving transport efficiency and reducing the work intensity of the driver, this thesis focuses on the algorithm of target profile and the implementation and verification of the heavy-haul ATO software. Specifically, the main contents of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, based on dedicating study on basic function of urban rail, requirements of the heavy-haul have been achieved according to the special operating conditions of heavy haul train. There are significant differences between heavy-haul ATO and urban rail ATO, such as operation environment, brake mode, running time and so on. Performance indexes, which suit heavy-haul ATO are proposed to overcome these differences. In addition, these indexes will be used to evaluate the simulation result in the subsequent sections.Secondly, the mode of heavy-haul is analyzed. Moreover, incorporating with the excellent diver, a strategy for heavy-haul ATO based on fuzzy control is proposed. This strategy disposes the operation of the train at different stages based on determining the input and output parameters. Off-line verification is carried on MATLAB by actual operating data, compared with the excellent driver manipulation, the correctness of the simulation results are proved.Finally, software design and actualization of heavy-haul ATO and simulation test have been achieved. After the software and hardware are integrated, auxiliary operating conditions are set on the simulation test platform based on real three stations and two sections. According to the real railway line data and locomotive parameters, the effectiveness of the algorithm is further verified. Simulation tests indicate train operation normally and speed display on MMI correctly.By simulating on MATLAB and testing on simulation platform, compared with the excellent driver’s curve, target profile which obtained by using fuzzy rules has more optimal operation strategy and more time saving. When breaking information out of speed limit is received, the heavy-haul ATO can down speed to the speed limit size, safely and stably.
