With the gradual improvement of highway network in China, highway transportation becomes the major option for material transportation and human traveling. At the same time of the developing of highway transportation, the security issues are the focus of attention. According to some statistics, traffic accidents happened in curve highway section of secondary class or lower class two-lane highway have a high proportion. In addition, traffic accidents with the subjective cognition of drivers have a higher proportion.Based on the security issues in highway transportation, domestic and foreign scholars did many researches in multiple fields about driving behaviour modelling, traffic safety risk, characteristics of the curve track distribution, and characteristics of cornering speed. However, there are few researches about subjectivity of drivers and there is not any research about the diversity of the new and old drivers’driving behaviour in curve roads according to the subjectivity of new and old drivers. According to the diversity of driving experience, the driving behaviour of new and old drivers has differentiation. Moreover, the ratio in traffic accident of new and old drivers has a significant difference. Thus, it is necessary to do further research on the diversity of the new and old drivers’driving behaviour in curve road. This paper analyse the landscape characteristic of curve road and its impact to traffic safety firstly. The major diversity of new and old drivers in risk perception and the major impact of curve road linear characteristic and traffic characteristic to the curve road safety are concluded. Then, turning performance of vehicle and offset characteristic of tire are analysed. It also analyses the formation mechanism of sideslip and rollover during the movement of vehicle on curve road. According to the above analysis, the major impact factors of vehicle’s lateral stability when moving on curve road are conducted. Eventually, according to the method of field experiment, the driving experiment for both new and old drivers was conducted. The driving data of new and old drivers was collected. The variables in this research are specified speed, track, uniform speed point, acceleration point, heart rate, and perception-reaction time. The driving behaviour of new and old drivers in curve road was quantitatively analysed. This research can provide reference and assistance to driving training, highway linear design, traffic safety facilities design, and accident prevention.
