With the growth of the national economy, China’s power systems increasingly large and more complex, and users of power supply reliability and power quality requirements are also increasing. In modern times, power distribution automation system has been achieved, it is possible to locate the fault, fault isolation section, non-fault zone recovery, reduce outage area, shorten the outage time. The fast and accurate positioning is to isolate the faulty system to restore the non-fault section of the premise, but also an important content distribution grid.Distribution system automation, SCADA systems capable of receiving, recording distribution feeder pillar FTU collected section switch current, voltage and other information, GIS systems capable distribution network topology analysis. In this paper, the use of these two points of information, and then using intelligent optimization algorithms to locate the fault. This article briefly describes some of the characteristics of intelligent optimization algorithm and its application in the distribution network, genetic algorithms and simulated annealing algorithm in-depth study, constructed parallel adaptive genetic annealing algorithm.
