With the speeding up of urbanization in our country, more and more rural population migrating to urban, has brought the enormous pressure of population to town. At the same time, by the country’s rapid economic development, the residents living standards’ improvment make cars per capita exploding. Statistics show, in 2013 the per capita car ownership is ten times as much as in 2003. The two make the phenomena of city traffic congestion problem more and more get the attention of the countries, the congestion cost greatly increase. Through traffic management practices at home and abroad, we found the supply and demand side strategies can not well solve the congestion problem. Essentially, the "source" of traffic "flow" is the city land use, how to solve the above problem from the perspective of land use is the starting point of this article. This paper takes Center City District of chengdu as an example to study the influence of urban land use on the way of traveling. On the one hand, this paper gives a systematic review of the relevant theoretical research, summarizes predecessors’ research results, and then selecte the theoretical basis of this paper:Random Utility Theory; On the other hand, according to the theory, multinomial Logit models are established to carry on an empirical research. According to above literature summary, the characteristics of land use is residential density, the density of employment, land use degree of mixed and road network density. According to the purpose of travel, travel can be divided into commuter travel and non commuter travel; according to the way of travel, travel will be divided into two types of car travel and non car travel (public transport, bicycle, walking, etc.). For commuter travel, because it has a fixed destinationt. analyze the influence of land use characteristics of residence and workplace on travel.; for the non commuting, it can be divided into shopping, entertainment, dining and medical travel. Since the end of the uncertainty, analyze the influence of land use characteristics of residence on travel. And then through empirical research conclusions are as follows:1, For commuter travel, residential density, density of employment and mixed land use of residence on the choice of car commuting has a negative impact and on the non car commuter travel have a positive impact. The road network density is just the opposite. Only density of residence and employment density of wordplace affect the residents’ commuting travel.2, For non commuting, the increasement of the residential density and employment density will reduce the car selection probability of shopping travel and entertainment travel. The increasement of mixed land use degree and reducement of the network density will reduce the car selection probability of shopping travel, entertainment travel and dining travel. The characteristics of land use had no effect on the medical travel.3, The probality of the residents of Qingyang District and Jinjiang District choose cars in the commuter travel or in the non commuting are small, the probality of choosing a non car travel is bigger. Jinniu District and Chenghua District is just the opposite.4, The impact of mixed land use on the trip is the most significant, followed by the residential density and employment density, and the impact of density of the road network is minimum.
