Face gear transmission is a new type of gear drive.Face gear transmission has many unique advantages especially in the high-speed and heavy-duty occasions.Contact and bending strength seriously affect its normal life.The stability and noise of face gear transmission is directly influenced by the transmission error.The paper firstly has researched on the tooth formation,numericl control cutting simulation of face gear,finite element mesh model building methods;secondly,it also researched the meshing performance and face gear contact finite element calculation method,which plays a certain role in the development of face gear.The paper mainly complete the following research work:(1).This paper studies on the theory of face gear shaping.It is based on the theory of face gear,the paper studies on the face gear shaping,equation of the gear tooth surface is deduced,and the boundary condition of root cutting and addendum point is got,and tooth surface transition equation is derived.Finally,this work is established face gear geometry model by using Pro/E design software.(2). The simulation model of face gear is provided for the Vericut software.Based on the research of slotting machining principle of face gear and Vericut software platform,simulation process of face gear shaping is designed and get the simulation model of face gear.(3).The finite element modeling of face gear meshing is built.Based on the three-dimensional entity model and simulation model of face gear,depending on the ABAQUS finite element analysis platform,it researched on the meshing method of face gear,boundary condition,and calculated the parallelepiped grid analysis the precision of the contact problem.Finally,it has concluded the differences between the three dimensional simulation and numerical control model on the basis of the finite element analysis.(4). Under different load conditions of the face gear drive researched the performance.The face gear in light load and heavy-duty condition,the load distribution,contact stress,bending stress,transmission error and overlap ratio has derived.
