Research On Flight Data Visualization Of General Aviation Aircraft

Flight data visualization is an important basis for the investigation of flight accident. With the development of the flight data recording systems, the usage of flight data has been far more than that. Flight data visualization provides important reference to flight quality judgment, training process assessment and aircraft maintenance. In this thesis, based on Cessna 172 aircraft real flight data, visualization technology are investigated, a flight data visualization software is designed.In this thesis, the useage status and development trend of flight data research at domestic and abroad is described. The method of flight data collection of Garmin1000 system is shown. The related technologies of system design are introduced briefly. In this thesis light data visualization system is described from three aspects--requirements analysis, system design, system implementation. The research focus on the FlightGear IO system and the method of flight simulation driven by external data. Then, the protocol method of FlightGear is researched. And based on Garmin1000 flight data, the communication interface between external program and FlightGear is designed. Details of the meaning of logged flight data are descript. The importing and parsing of flight data CSV file is achieved. Using Qt as the software compiler achieved that external data drive FlightGear three-dimensional flight simulation via UDP protocol. At the same time, the dynamic curves of flight parameters are drawn to realize synchronization with the simulation screen. Software control module is designed to achieve the flight data sequence playback, acceleration playback and playback progress control. Finally, the real flight data file is used to detect the visualization system, the maximum length of flight data playback and the system memory consumption are analyzed. Overall, the system has achieved the intended purpose with a nice performance on Cessna 172 aircraft flight data visualization.
