The construction of the next-generation smart substation implements equipment parameters digitizing, function integrating, structure compact and maintenance state, which is relying on integrated monitoring system and electrical equipment with high reliability, finally achieves simple operation and efficient maintenance. Nowadays the intelligent substations under constructing have many problems of secondary electrical equipment in common, the troubles above limit the development of the intelligent substation, so we must start the research of the key technology to the integrated equipment, especially the integrated secondary equipment.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. Combined with the status of the smart substation secondary electrical system and the structure of the three-layers equipment, the paper studies the scheme of the integrated equipment for each layer. The paper analyzes the integrated secondary equipment of the relay protection, measurement and control, and puts forward a proposal for the problems that may arise; discusses the optimization for the particular process layer equipment in smart substation; proposes the scheme of the process layer network applying for the current indoor GIS substation; researches the modular smart substation, matching the modular construction theory which is proposed by the State Grid.2. Based on the demonstration project of the next-generation smart substation-220kV Guowang substation in Anhui province, the paper analyzes the integration technology and application in four aspects such as the application of the prefabricated-cabin integrated secondary equipment, the integration of the secondary system in substation, the layering protection system, the optimization and the standardization of the prefabricated optical cable.3. The paper discusses three key technologies of the integrated secondary equipment in the construction of the next-generation substation. The paper also discusses multifunctional secondary integrated devices; five in one devices and integrated hardware platform; the technology of the condition-monitoring for the time synchronization:the monitoring system classification technology and the NTP "Ping-Pong" theory; the new network architectures called "Three networks in One" and "Three layers, One network", comparing the economics and technology with the universal design made by State Grid, verifying the feasibility in future application.Without affecting system reliability, the research minimized the quantities of the secondary electrical equipment, can be the technical reference for the next generation smart substation, and provided designing ideas for the construction of the modular intelligent substation, matching the principle-"The highly integrated scheme promoting the innovation and development of the intelligent substation" by State Grid Corporation.
