The Experience Design Research About Mobile Health Monitoring Application For Elderly

Due to the popularity of smart devices, the public acceptability of internet is becoming higher and higher, m-health(mobile health) is moving into people’s lives gradually, m-health can help more and more people realize the self-management of health problem, besides, the development of hardware and wearable devices also provide more possibilities for m-health, and change people’s perspective to the medical system. The elderly people, as the most important beneficiary of m-health, better interface design of m-health app can bring better experience for them to use the health equipment.This topic is based on the research, through the status and the development of m-health applications from the research of domestic and overseas, and combined with cognitive theory, information design and user experience design, keep the elderly people as the target group, to define the information design of the application of the m-health. First of all, through the analysis of the social environment and the development status of m-health, found out the problem of m-health apps in China, combined with the interface design and user experience design, analyzes the unique problem of m-health monitoring applications design. Secondly, the designer started discuss from three angles of cognitive theory, analyze elderly’s problem of recognition, understanding and memory the interface of m-health app, in the fact that elderly’s abilities losing in vision and attention, reasoning ability, memory and comprehensive ability. Then, based on the usage habits and problems of elderly health monitoring devices, launches the research, through survey and user testing, behavior observation, depth interview, to understand elderly’s needs and specific requirements in using of m-health monitoring devices, at last, summarizes the needs of testing, database, consulting, the sound, instructions, remind, contact the doctor, and then test, personal information, and demand for functional transformation and prioritization based on the needs. Finally, the application of m-health monitoring is defined in three aspects: including the interface information of visual perception; understanding the information from the interface; design rules based on user experience.Through the design principles of m-health monitoring application interface, the designer established a set of principle can be used as a guide of general design specification definition of information for m-health monitoring applications, for elderly users, it enhances the usability, reliability, and satisfaction of m-health monitoring application, also improves the intelligibility of health data, and promote the experience of elderly effectively; for medical institutions or the third party, it’s not only set up a rule of m-health monitoring application, raise the efficiency of the application, and allows users to build their own health database, it provide more effective information to let the doctor can be diagnosed the illness easily, drive the promoting function of the big data to medical system.
