With the development and changes of the city, high-rise buildings continue to emerge, many of the buildings and surrounding buildings began to be misfits, their structure, function start is not applicable, with the surrounding urban construction uncoordinated, aging facilities, can not be social use, making it abandoned, shelved in the corner of the city, while its surrounding environment is also wasted. Some memories of the building was demolished, reconstructed into high-rise, forming thousands of city side of the phenomenon, no features, lack of personality. Building is being built in different historical state at different times, is in line with prevailing local functional requirements, urban development story of the bearer, are important documents of urban development stage, are building non-renewable resources should be strengthened for these abandoned buildings attention, its replacement alterations rational functions use, as well as improve its overall surroundings, not only need to adapt the concept of sustainable development, but also have the cultural awareness of historic preservation and rational use of cultural and historical lessons, performed old and new fusion, we can enrich the connotation of the city, improve urban quality, shaping the city’s image, enhance cultural soft power and competitiveness of the city.Based on the relevant domestic and foreign excellent case studies, analysis of specific performance of the morphological characteristics of abandoned buildings transformation, objective refers to appear contemporary in abandoned building renovation in the problems, for the practice of design reference. Looking through the theory as a basis for research, such as the principles of integrity Authenticity historic building preservation and restoration of the body to provide a design idea that design should respect the original architectural characteristics of the form; as ecologically sustainable low carbon design concept, green design, emphasizing the use of existing resources and ecological balance for the design was modified to provide a way that the original design will be abandoned public facilities for reuse; and the spirit of place in place of, designed to provide emotional characteristics, ie design of abandoned buildings and stop feeling the cultural space of the surrounding environment. Inductive method of inquiry related strategies, analyze the importance of the municipal waste recycling building and its surroundings, through the transformation of Xuzhou Bluff station instance, can use to explore design strategies. The first chapter explores the status of the city is now the transformation of abandoned buildings, and the meaning and direction of its transformation. Chapter II Abandoned old building renovation explore related policy methods. The third chapter analysis of the transformation of the geographical environment, cultural background, geographical features, and then explore how to take advantage of here with local urban construction to adapt. Chapter IV Xuzhou Bluff station abandoned buildings and the surrounding environment design ideas, the original pattern of re-planning re-use, will be divided into two main areas-Xuzhou Railway Cultural District and leisure entertainment district.
