In the construction of research university is an important period of development, research university library under the background of information research to determine the functional requirements, and puts forward the appropriate design strategy, is currently a hot research and design of University library.This paper tightly grasp the pulse of the times, grasp the research situation at home and abroad, established the research university library architectural design as the research object of this paper, from the research university innovation and research and development characteristics as the starting point, analyzing the information of university library function composition changes, combined with the architecture design theory, using historical research, case study as the basic research ideas, research, applying the research method of comparison, classification, inductive logic, attempts to explore a set of scientific and reasonable to adapt to the information age change research university library building design strategies.The thesis is divided into five chapters: the first chapter is the introduction part, focuses on the basic research of the thesis and puts forward the topic source. The fifth chapter is the practice, through empirical analysis of library building design project of Beijing University of Technology graduate students during the participation, to validate the theory proposed, combine theory with practice and hope to learn from the architectural design of University Library in the future.
