The energy performance of existing building envelope accounts for a large proportion in the whole building energy performance. With the social development of our country, the improvement of people living environment requirements, there is an upward trend in building energy performance. So the evaluation of energy performance of building envelop is becoming more and more important. But building envelope is complicated. There are many difficulties in the energy performance detection of building envelope. At present, the traditional energy performance testing methods of building envelope have many limitations, restricting the further development of building energy efficiency. A kind of method which is on the basis of the equivalent thermal characteristics of the whole building envelope is proposed. Based on the correlation coefficient and variance, it put the correlation coefficient and variance ratio as evaluation index of energy performance of building envelope. Measure the heat insulation performance and energy consumption of different building envelope by the correlation coefficient and variance between outdoor and indoor temperature. Also it can evaluate the running quality of the air condition system of the same building envelope.Firstly, simplify the complex building envelop into a single layer envelope, analyze the heat transfer process of simplified building envelope. Results show that correlation coefficient and variance ratio have a better consistency in heat insulation effect of building envelope. The smaller the value is, the better the thermal insulation of building envelope is.Secondly, the correlation coefficient and variance ratio are simulated by numerical method. Make a comprehensive analysis on the correlation coefficient and variance ratio. Results show that the correlation coefficient and variance ratio have a good consistency in the detection.Thirdly, a simplified test platform is set up in the laboratory. Use carpentry board and thermal insulation layer to manufacture closed environment, to collect indoor and outdoor temperature and deal with it by Excel. The results show that the experiment and numerical calculation are consistent and this method is feasible.At last, get the indoor and outdoor temperature data of a real building, to select the temperature data during the running of air conditioning and the no air conditioning period, to compare correlation coefficient and variance ratio. Results show that the correlation coefficient and variance ratio can reflect the quality of air conditioning system. The smaller the value is, the higher the quality of air conditioning is. Otherwise, the air conditioning running quality is poorer.
