With the process of global integration,the contemporary vernacular architecture has gradually come into people’s field of vision,and has attracted the attention and concern of some people.The early foreign architects have made a lot of exploration and research in theory and practice. In China,the study of contemporary vernacular architecture is still lack of systematic theoretical support,contemporary vernacular architecture is the architectural form of the integration of traditional culture and modern culture under the background of cultural diversity and the integration of the world.The contemporary vernacular architecture in China can be divided into two kinds:One is to refine its architectural symbols in the traditional architecture, by imitating the traditional architectural form to associated with traditional architecture, it can be considered as "similar in form",Another is through the abstract traditional architectural form and symbol, And then apply it to the architectural creation,it can be considered as "similar in spirit". These two methods can not meet the function and space of modern architecture.Nowadays, with the deepening of China’s urbanization, contemporary vernacular architecture plays an increasingly significant role in it. However, the research on contemporary vernacular architecture is still in the initial stage. Even so, domestic architects still attempted to create a batch of excellent vernacular architecture products. This thesis is going to analyze and study a number of excellent vernacular architecture emerged in recent years, and try to explore a theory of vernacular architectural creation in contemporary China.The thesis firstly defines the contemporary vernacular architecture and analyzes it compared with other similar concepts. On this basis, the thesis introduces creative ideas and products in different ages by briefly describing the background and historical evolution of contemporary vernacular architecture. Then, the paper carries on an analysis and research combined with contemporary Chinese vernacular architecture and China’s urbanization, and conducts detailed discussion about contemporary vernacular architectural products under China’s urbanization. Finally, the paper puts forward strategies of the Chinese contemporary vernacular architectural creation,this paper is expected to provide certain reference value towards the thinking and practical application of contemporary vernacular architectural creation.
