With the general application of long distance and large capacity belt conveyors, tensioning devices which are the indispensable part of belt conveyors are increasingly important. However, due to the low degree of automation and slow-response, the traditional tensioning devices have been difficult to meet the current needs. Therefore, it is necessary to design a kind of automatic tensioning device which is not only safe and reliable but also has good dynamic characteristics.Based on the principle of friction transmission and the overall force balance, the tension of the starting, stable running and braking of the belt conveyor are determined. According to the application characteristics of conveyor belt tensioning device, a fuzzy PID control based automatic tensioning device is proposed. Firstly, this thesis analyzes the force of the belt conveyor, and the overall design scheme of the tensioning device is determined. Then the type of hydraulic system components has been chosen. According to the physical model of the tensioning device, the mathematical model of the two kinds of the winch and the oil cylinder are established. With the aid of the Matlab tool, the conventional PID control and fuzzy PID control are simulated. The results show that the fuzzy PID control is an ideal method for the automatic adjustment of tension of the belt, and the performance index of system is realized, such as stability, dynamic performance are achieved.The design of tensioning device consists of the hydraulic part and electric control part design. The working process of hydraulic system in the action of tensioning device is discussed. In the electrical control system, the STM32F103VET6 microcontroller is used as the main control chip. The design of the system includes communication and signal detection and acquisition circuit etc. Finally, the host computer and slave computer software of the tensioning device are designed by using the PT070 touch screen, operation software of PM Designer touch master and Keil5.0 software. The design process of the monitoring interface of the host computer is described in detail and the design thought of slave computer software is introduced. The fuzzy PID algorithm is introduced to design software. The main program flow chart, fuzzy PID algorithm flow charts are given.
