The synchronizer is used as a core component of the mechanical transmission, the advantages and disadvantages of its performance has great influence on the transmission of the ride comfort. However, in the field of the heavy-duty transmission, because of the large rotating inertia of transmission, when the transmission from the low gear shift to the high gear, the shift will often be difficult. Therefore the design of a heavy vehicle synchronizer which can balance the inertia of the large negative impact, has great significance in improving the transmission efficiency and the shift quality.In this paper, a multiple cone type synchronizer lock pin synchronizer was designed. The synchronizer’s torque capacity could be multiplied by increasing the number of the friction cone. The multiple cone synchronizer could be suitable to the different gear, which is the biggest advantage of the synchronizer. In this paper, established the parameters of the synchronizer by the CATIA and simulate the synchronizer through the ADAMS, got the parameters which effect the performance of the synchronizer. Compared with the traditional single cone pin type synchronizer, confirmed the performance advantages of the conical pin type synchronizer. Finally optimized the main parameters of the synchronizer by the MATLAB. Verified the optimization scheme and confirmed the feasibility of the scheme.The results of this paper show that the new multiple cone type synchronizer which designed in the paper has obvious improvement in increasing the torque capacity and reduce the synchronization time. The synchronizer has a considerable market value. Provides a significant way to the development of the synchronizer.
