The author has many years of practice experience in the construction business management area and served as the strategic decision-maker and implementer of a private construction company known as the " Nantong Construction Iron", who witnessed the rising course of the business from small to big, from weak to strong during the reform and opening up.However, with the deepening of global economic integration process and the evolution of the competitive environmenthe after subprime mortgage crisis,how to grasp the right direction in the complex, changing environment, to make scientific and stable strategic goals, to form enterprise development strategies and external environment, combination of internal resources,cultivate and enhance the core competitiveness in a highly competitive environment’s an important issue urgent need us to study. So it is an urgent need for us to assess the development status of the industries accurately,through which construction companies can find out the development strategy based on the core competitiveness for the future development.Based on the above considerations, this study take the theoretical knowledge and guiding principle learned in the classroom as the guide,take the author’s organization" Tongzhou Construction General Contracting Group Co., Ltd" as the object of study,based on the analysis of the macro-environment, development of the industry and operation status of the company, analysised the strategic resources of the company, and analysised the company’s relative strengths and relative weaknesses, growth opportunities and challenges and other factors using the SWOT model, come to the company’s initial strategic direction, and analysised the company’s core competitiveness on the above basis.Thus established the vision, objectives, positioning for the company’s overall development strategy. Finally, formed the company’s main competitive strategy, and gave a detailed exposition.This study aims at planning out the company’s actual development strategy through exploratory study. Meanwhile, hope to provide some reference value of the transformation and development for the private construction companies in building industry.
