With the deepening and perfection of China’s reform and opening up, traditional financial services will be more struggled in order to match to the variable and complicated financial needs of civilians. In that case, many commercial banks in china have already enthusiastically explored new patterns of developing business. Intermediary business, which has the features of variability, low-cost, low-risk and high-income, will be the key point of development patterns transformation and profits-increasing of our country’s large commercial banks.Developing intermediary business can be more easily to satisfy the operating principles of safety, liquidity and profitability of commercial banks. It also can fit the strategic targets of development transformation of large commercial banks. More specially, developing intermediary business will be able to have the important meanings of widening revenue sources, promoting stability of revenue, reducing the impact of shrinking traditional business, diversifying and reducing of operation risks, promoting international competitive power, and advancing the development of traditional business.In the course of developing intermediary business, China’s large commercial banks although have already gained some performance and valuable experience, they have to face many tuff problems and challenges to solve. For example, slow-lifting of percentage of income, having huge potential in promoting income, imbalance of development, as well as simple constitution of income. All above problems exit in one sub- branch of ICBC, where the writer is working. The intermediary business income in that sub-branch has a huge increase in recent years, but it also have to cope with some problems in order to maintain the high growth.Some solutions have be concluded through researching the case of one sub-branch of ICBC. Such as transition of conceptions, cooperative development, upgrading talent competitive power, promoting rear-services standard, building well-established laws and rules, quickening the pace of innovation, and so on. Our country’s large commercial banks would get some valuable reference in the course of developing intermediary business from above solutions.
