At present, these unhealthy phenomenons of damaging exploitation, resource wastes,environmental pollution, short industry chain of the rare earths and so on, seriously affected thesustainable development of the rare earth industry. And, under the current circumstance of fiercemarket competition, each link in rare earth industry supply chain has various uncertain factors,which affect the normal operation and management of rare earth industry supply chain, and thescientific and reasonable rare earth industry supply chain can protect its total earnings from thepotentially adverse effects of various uncertain factors, ensure normal flow of rare earth andend-use product and enhance agility and robustness of the rare earth industry supply chain.Therefore, a scientific, reasonable and robust rare earth industry supply chain has become animportant channel for helping rare earth enterprises accomplish their strategic goals. So, the paperintroduces the relevant basic theory of network design of rare earth supply chain on thefoundation of summarizing the studies of rare earth industry supply chain, the robustness of thesupply chain, SC network design and its analysis and evaluation, and combining the robust modelof previous studies, the paper puts forward the robust optimization; Then, through the feasibilityanalysis of network design of rare earth supply chain, on the basis of traditional network designof rare earth supply chain model the paper successfully builds network design of rare earth supplychain model based on robust optimization theory, and puts forward an appropriate algorithm;Finally, through empirical analysis, that is, for rare earth in jiangxi province, the paper determinesthat the network design of rare earth supply chain is a scientific and reasonable supply chain,which has minimal total cost, maximum customer satisfaction, high flexibility and coordination,resourceful and high resource efficiency. At the same time, it proves that, whatever theuncertainties, the network system of supply chain takes on a good robustness and insensitivity.
