Export trade is very important to every country, as it can bring huge economic benefits for the country. In Vietnam, the export is an important part in the process of economic development. It is the prerequisite of the industrialization of Vietnam economy. The shoes industry is an earlier developed industry in Vietnam. But still in 1987, it began to become an independent industry. After years of development, the shoes industry have become the main export products in Vietnam as it never had place in the export industry before. In the light-industry, or just in the shoes industry, Vietnam is one of the five biggest shoes-making countries. Every year,7.15 billion pairs of shoes will be produced in Vietnam, and 90 percent of them will be exported. Now the shoes industry is considered to be one of the most important industries in the goods export strategy of Vietnam. The advantages of the shoes industry in Vietnam are the low-cost labor and the good investment environment. Because of these advantages, the shoes industry has attracted a large number of labor, and it’s also helpful for the export industry of the country.2006 is the milepost of Vietnam’s economic development as the Vietnam joined the World Trade Organization (WTO). The trend of economic globalization makes the whole world become the market of all countries. In order to express the full potential of the shoes industry while facing various risks and challenges, the government, departments and enterprises must work together to find a new road for the export of Vietnam shoes industry. The country should play the advantages and conquer all the difficulties that will be faced in the future. Then, for the sake of getting a stable position in the international market, Vietnam shoes industry need to propose some measures to improve the competitiveness of the export in Vietnam, conform to the world market and to increase the export.On the basis of status of the Vietnam shoes industry export on the world, the analysis of this thesis combined the theory and demonstration. Using the qualitative analysis to analyze the exports competitive of Vietnam shoes industry in three competitiveness index (MS, RCA, CA). The quantitative uses Michael Porter diamond Model to analyzing the competitive and the problem that is faced of Vietnam shoes industry through six aspects:productive factor, demand, relative industry enterprise’s strategy and etc. The first, the Vietnam exports focus on the processing, that means the low profits. The second, the technological level of the labor is not high as less of them is be trained. The third, the brand building and management are very important. The forth, the rudimentary of the auxiliary businesses and the lack of raw materials and facilities are also big problems. The last one is the government policy. Therefore, the thesis suggest to solve these problem form the government, associations and enterprises’own perspective. These are the suggestion:First, the government needs to increase the support of the export of shoes industry, establish the international trade information net and broad the source of raw materials. Next, the Lefaso need to seek more opportunities for cooperation, improve the profits of the enterprise marketing activities. The association should play their own role to help the enterprises solve the problem. At last, the reform and the the marketing strategy of the entrepreneurs is also very important.
