The Analysis Of Technical Level Of China’s Industrial Manufactured Goods Export And Its Reginal Difference

With the rapid development of Chinese economy, the scale of the industrialmanufactured goods export increases,and export trade structure has also been greatlyimproved. The lifting of "quantity" transforms gradually to the ascension of"quality".This paper using Chinese reginal export data tries to make a profound analysisof change and regional difference of the technical sophistication of Chinese industrialmanufactured products from both the industrial and the domestic inter regional aspects.Based on regional data on Hausmann (2005) model, Xu&Lu (2009)extended thetechnical sophistication of the national level of export products to the regional level, thepaper referring to the revising method of Xu&Lu (2009) estimates the technicalsophistication of the industrial export products under the60chapters of the14categoriesof in the HS code, and analyses the trend of dynamical change of the technical level ofthe industrial manufactured export products as a whole. On this basis, we furtherconstruct two measurements,the overall technology sophistication of provincial exportand the technological height of the export trade to make a comparative static anddynamic analysis of the regional difference of China’s28provinces (autonomousregions). Our main conclusion is that: the result shows the technical level of industrialmanufactured goods exports of eastern provinces is higher than in the west in2008.Jiangsu, Shanghai ranked in the top two, followed by Beijing, Tianjin, Guangdong, andthe last five were Guizhou, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Shanxi and Hainan Province; during thesample period, the overall technical level of almost every province (autonomous region)has been greatly improved; the technology height of Eastern, Middle and westernprovinces show different trends and stage characteristic.
