The Unification Of The Hypothesis Of "Moral Person" And "Economic Man" In Economic Activities

In the middle of the 19th century, German Historical School proposed "Adam Smith Problem" which had aroused a heated debate in other many scholars, and which is the most distinctive point of view of his two works named "The Theory of Moral Sentiments" and "The wealth of Nations ". Altruism in "moral person" and self-interest in "economic man" is the contradiction between the two books, always running through the entire social economy and moral realm. In my opinion, two seemingly contradictory thoughts can and will be unified with the development of society. Nowadays, our country is in the transitional period of socialist market economy, some moral anomie seriously influence China’s culture, education and economic development, venality and unscrupulousness in "economic man" also encroach on our moral principles, and thus the whole society also needs the unity of "moral man" and "economic man".This paper attempts to discuss the necessity and possibility of the unification of the two kinds of hypotheses from the ideological connotation of "moral man" and "economic man". Paper is divided into three parts:the first part describes the basic concept of two kinds of assumptions and to analyze their social value; the second part combined with social status respectively from the China traditional culture inheritance, the social virtue cultivation and sustainable development view angle, discusses the "moral man" and "economic man" unified necessity and possibility of; the third part analysis effect of the unity of the two hypotheses on economic activities and moral construction, and puts forward some constructive suggestions for the transformation of China’s socialist market economy, in order to achieve the unity of both on the true meaning of.This paper expounded and analyzed the "moral man" and "economic man" hypothesis, to explore the necessity and possibility of uniting the two, so that people can better understand in an important period of the socialist market economy, not only to economic development, but also to improve people’s moral quality, promote social virtues, and promote the harmonious development of the society, and ultimately achieve all-round improvement of the rich and moral.
