At the same time, with the development of computer technology and industrial production and the national life has increased the demand of intelligent measurement and control instrument, virtual instrument has become the important direction of instrument development.This paper first briefly introduces the development trend of watt-hour meter and electric meter calibration for grid significance and research status quo, analysis of the deficiency of the traditional calibration machine, on the basis of the smart meter calibration platform based on virtual instrument is put forward, the platform has the electric energy measurement, meter calibration and query, error analysis, etc. System structure, the design of the discussion and study to choose the right solution, the electric energy metering principle of watt-hour meter, programming to realize high accuracy of watt-hour meter, emphasis on the design platform of the whole design scheme and the design process. Based on the Lab VIEW graphical design, can replace the traditional instrument, and is superior to the traditional design method. First, study the principle of electric energy metering, according to the principle of its design the high accuracy of smart meters in the virtual instrument. Then, using virtual instrument combining with database design a smart meter test platform, can treat watt-hour meter measuring accuracy test, will list the source information of the meter under test and test results in a designated database file, at the same time, the user can choose to query the accuracy of the meter has been measured.
