The Investigation Of Wild Blue Flower Resources And Cultivation Of Some Species In Hebei Province

The blue flowering plant is relatively rare in all kinds of flower series. The developmentand usage of wild blue flowering plants are benefit to the diversity of ground cover plant.Also, they bring the new ideas of landscape and commercial flower products. This papermade the name list of wild blue flowering plants in Hebei province based on the realinvestigation, database, and literature. Three kinds of wild blue flowering species wereapplied to cultivation in this study.Main conclusions and recommendations are the following:1. The wild blue flowering plant was well defined and invested in Hebei province.132kinds of blue flowering species were recorded in the name list. The details like life form，living conditions，geographical distribution and florescence are also listed. Some color imageswere shown for better understanding.2. The flower plant samples and seeds were collected and investigated in those four areasin Hebei province: Kongzhong grassland in Laiyuan, Baishi mountain, Zhuolu, and LaoZhanggou in Zhangjiakou City. The photographs of the plant details were also recorded as thebasic material for the cultivation experiments.3. Scabiosa tschiliensis, Delphinium grandiflorum and Iris ventricosa were successfullycultivated in Bashang Saibei District in Hebei province.The result of Scabiosa tschiliensisfarming is：There is no obvious difference of height, but the quantity of the flowers was fivetimes than wild species, and the crown size increased0.5cm. The average survival rate of Irisventricosa is86%in the end of growing season, and the average survival rate is67%whenthey turn green. A valuable conclusion about cultivation techniques was made: These threespecies were originally from cold regions, all of them are easy to live in low temperature, anddrought. Once were successfully cropped, the flowers bloom for several years. They also havefewer pests and they are easy to propagate. It is suitable to promote in the gardens for thecommercial usage. According to the evidence in domestication and cultivation of these threekinds of blue flowering plants, the artificial cultivation helps to extend the florescence and dense the flowers.4. The blue flowering plants have high value in commercial flower area. They areconsidered as ideal materials for both indoor and outdoor green design because of their uniquecharacters. For the outdoor, they can be cropped in flower border and flowerbeds, singly orjointly. Also, they can be good ground cover, cut flowers, potted flowers, andflower-arranging because of their easy-growing character.
