Studies On The Rare And Endangered Medicinal Plants Resources In Hebei Province

On the basis of field expedition by the members in our laboratory in several years, methods of plant taxonomy, botanical geography, biostatistics and fuzzy mathematics are also utilized to research the rare and endangered medicinal plants of Hebei province. This results can apply to further analysis of wild medicinal plants,and also can protect the endangered medicinal resources.The content of the study included: (1) on the basis of research, the catalogue of the rare and endangered medicinal plants in Hebei province was defined, (2) through the work in the wild and laboratory, information about the rare and endangered medicinal plants in Hebei province were analyzed, each of the plants was described in detail, (3)a systematic analysis on the distribution types, medicinal efficacy, medicinal parts and so on was made, (4) with the actual situation, endangered mechanism were analyzed, protective measures were given. The main results were as following:1. There were 115 species in the catalogue of the rare and endangered medicinal plants in Hebei province. 115 species belonged to 45 families and 86 genera. The calalogue included 1 species of bryophytes, 1 species of ferns, 4 gymnosperms and 109 species of angiosperms.2. By using the methods of IUCN Red List criteria and fuzzy two-stage comprehensive evaluation, the further research on medicinal plants in the list had been done. There were critically endangered 20 medicinal plants , endangered 49 medicinal plants and vulnerable 46 medicinal plants. The results showed that 21 plants belonged to the first grade, 36 plants belonged to the second grade, 58 plants belonged to the third grade.3. The characteristics of the rare and endangered medicinal plants were: (1)the species components were rich, it involved bryophytes, ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms, (2) the distribution types were diverse, but north temperate zone had an absolute advantage, (3) most of the rare and endangered medicinal plants concentrated on Taihang Mountains, where was also the key areas of plant diversity conservation, (4) lots of plants harvested in autumn, medicinal parts were mostly vegetative organs, (5) medicinal efficacy were diverse.4. The main reasons why these plants were endangered were: the influence of human activities and the disadvantage of these plants .5. With the actual stiuation in Hebei, protective measures were given: (1)systematic investigation and scientific research would be developed, (2) the relevant laws and regulations was improved, (3)various types of natural reserves and botanical gardens would be established, (4) the plants should be utilized in reason, other measures such as artifical cultivation and alternatives can also be used, (5) through advocacy, make people aware of the importance of protection, (6) strengthen the exchange and cooperation.
