In recent years, with the development and progress of forestry science and technology, wood peeling technology is also improved. Wood peeling is of great meaning in timber storage and it can effectively improve the quality of wooden products. It helps to make the utilization of wood more reasonable and adequate by improving the production efficiency and reducing the cost to a large extent. What’s more, it can also improve the working conditions of sawing in the wood processing period. Compared with the development of wood peeling machine abroad, the technological research of wood peeling machine in China is lagging behind.This paper takes the BBP122Q small ring wood peeling machine developed by some Forestry Machinery Research Institute as research object, and aims to give an analysis of its hydraulic system in order to improve it.Based on researches of a lot of information relevant to wood peeling machine, the current situation and trend of its development, the hydraulic system of the BBP122Q small ring wood peeling machine is deeply analyzed. With a thorough analysis of the cutter structure and the design requirements of its hydraulic system, the structure of the cutter is improved. By analyzing the existing problems in cutter hydraulic system, the improvement of the cutter structure is possible. With consideration of the performance parameters of the wood peeling machine, an analysis and calculation model selection of the hydraulic system and its components is carried out. And the designed hydraulic system is put in modeling simulation and experimental research with the help of the AMEsim software. According to the working process of the BBP122Q small ring wood peeling machine, it is designed with PLC hardware circuit, and finally to use the Wincc flexible software to design the control interface of the system.The rationality of the design of the hydraulic system is verified by the experiment that tests its dynamic and efficiency. The wood peeling machine hydraulic system designed in this paper can change the cutting quantity according to the variation of the shape of wood. In this way, the wood peeling machine can peel wood skin more thoroughly, reduce excessive skinning, prolong the service life of cutting tools, and ensure smooth running of the peeling machine. This paper also provides a way to design and improve the control system of PLC peeling machine enhancing the automation of the peeling machine.
