Selected three leaf positions of ZhongYan100from flue-cured tobacco areaof35counties (area) in12cities of Henan Province in2013as test material. Usingdescriptive statistics, discriminant analysis, multiple comparisons, correlation analysis,double sieving stepwise regression as analytical methods to evaluated appearancequality and chemical composition and sensory quality of flue-cured tobacco leaves.Compared the quality of different leaf positions and areas of flue-cured tobacco leavessampled Henan. Study the correlation of different quality indexes.Evaluate the qualityof flue-cured tobacco leaves synthetically.The results were as follows:1. Compared the differences of appearance quality in HenanThe significant difference of Leaf positions and regional differences of appearancewere mainly reflected in color, oil, physical characteristics and chroma. The color,maturity, oil, physical characteristics and chroma were better in middle than upperand base. The differences of appearance among different area were not significantly.The appearance quality of flue-cured in Henan province was stable.2. Compared the differences of chemical composition in HenanThe significant difference of Leaf positions and regional differences of chemicalcomposition were mainly reflected in content of total sugar, reducing sugar, totalnitrogen and potassium. The reducing sugar content in different leaf positions showedhighly significant difference. The middle and base was higher than upper. The totalnitrogen content showed highly significant difference between upper and middle, andthe same between upper and base. Nitrogen content in middle was the highest. Thetotal sugar content showed highly significant difference among different leaf positions.Total sugar content in base was the highest.The differences of chemical composition among different area were significantly.Nicotine content in upper leaves showed highly significant difference among middlearea, south area and west area of Henan and between south area and east area ofHenan.Nicotine content in middle leaves showed highly significant difference among middlearea, south area and east area of Henan and showed significant difference between south area and east area of Henan. Nicotine content in base leaves showed highlysignificant difference between south area and west area of Henan. Reducing sugarcontent in upper leaves showed highly significant difference among different area ofHenan. Reducing sugar content in middle leaves showed significant difference amongmiddle area, east area and west area of Henan. Reducing sugar content in base leavesshowed significant difference between east area and south area of Henan. Potassiumcontent in different area didn’t have significant difference. Total nitrogen content inupper leaves showed highly significant difference among east area, south area andwest area of Henan. Total nitrogen content in middle leaves showed highly significantdifference among middle area, south area, west area and east area of Henan. Totalnitrogen content in base leaves showed significant difference between the south areaand the west area of Henan and showed highly significant difference between the eastarea and the west area of Henan. Starch content in upper leaves showed highlysignificant difference among east area, south area and middle area of Henan andshowed highly significant difference between south area and west area of Henan.Starch content in middle leaves showed highly significant difference among middlearea, south area and east area of Henan and showed significant difference betweenmiddle area and west area of Henan. Starch content in base leaves didn’t havesignificant difference among different area. Total sugar content in different leafpositions all showed highly significant difference among middle area, south area andeast area of Henan. Chlorine content in upper leaves showed highly significantdifference between middle area and west area of Henan and between south area andeast area of Henan. Chlorine content in middle and base leaves showed highlysignificant difference among west area, south area and east area of Henan.3. Compared the differences of sensory quality in Henan.Sensory quality indexes showed significant difference among different leafpositions. Aroma quantity showed significant difference among three leaf positionsand showed highly significant difference between upper and middle. Aroma showedhighly significant difference among different leaf positions. Style aroma showedhighly significant difference among different leaf positions. Irritation aroma showedsignificant difference between upper and base and showed highly significantdifference between middle and base. Agreeable aftertaste showed highly significantdifference between upper, base and middle. Physiological strength and concentration showed highly significant difference among different leaf positions. Flammabilityshowed significant difference between middle, base and upper. Ash color showedsignificant difference between middle, base and upper. The differences of Sensoryquality among different area were not significantly.4. Correlation of sensory quality and appearanceAroma had highly significant positive correlation with chroma. Style aroma hadsignificant negative correlation with leaf structure. Agreeable aftertaste hadsignificant positive correlation with leaf structure. Physiological strength hadsignificant positive correlation with oil and chroma.5.Correlation of sensory quality and chemical compositionAroma and concentration had highly significant positive correlation withnicotine. Concentration had significant negative correlation with total sugar andreducing sugar.Physiological strength had highly significant positive correlation with nicotine andtotal nitrogen. Physiological strength had highly significant negative correlation withtotal sugar and reducing sugar. Flammability had significant positive correlation withtotal sugar and had negative correlation with nicotine and total nitrogen and hadhighly negative correlation with chlorine content. Ash color had highly negativecorrelation with nicotine, total nitrogen and chlorine content. Ash color had highlypositive correlation with total sugar.6.Comprehensive flue-cured quality of Henan provinceComprehensive flue-cured quality of Henan province was between medium andpreferable. Comprehensive flue-cured quality index of middle leaves was the best andbase leaves was the worst.
